City of Agra 2026 in Camelle and Arou will take place on 10, 11 and 12 July in a very special edition marking 129 years of remembrance since the shipwreck of the English steamship City of Agra. The event brings together maritime history, culture, theatre, music, tribute and local participation to remember an episode deeply connected to the seafaring identity of Camelle and Arou.
The programme will revolve around the Maritime Fair and will include guided visits, theatre, concerts, a foliada, comedy monologues, street performances, an official reception, medal presentations, tributes to shipwreck victims and symbolic activities such as the boarding of the shipwreck survivors and the Camellans British football match. It is a different way to approach the history of the Costa da Morte through memory, emotion and popular culture.
The event is organised by the Asociación Cultural City of Agra and the Concello de Camariñas, with the collaboration of other local organisations. City of Agra 2026 invites residents and visitors to enjoy three days of activities in Camelle and Arou, remembering those who were shipwrecked and recognising the solidarity of these seafaring communities.
