Atlantic Sunset – The Last Sunset in Europe at Costa da Morte 2025

On September 19th, 2025, Costa da Morte will host Atlantic Sunset – The Last Sunset in Europe, part of the Interreg Cooperation Day. A special day with events at Cape Touriñán (Muxía) and Cape Fisterra, bringing together culture, science, and community participation around the magic of Atlantic sunsets.

Program at Cape Touriñán (Muxía)

• 6:00 p.m. – Welcome reception with music by the Muxía band and institutional greetings
• 6:20 p.m. – Presentation of information plaques to the municipalities of Viana do Castelo (Portugal) and Carnota
• 6:30 p.m. – Inauguration of the information plaque at Cape Touriñán
• 6:40 p.m. – Closing of the event

Program at Cape Fisterra (Stephen Hawking Square)

• 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Exhibition of technology and immersive experiences to highlight Atlantic sunsets
• 7:30 p.m. – Institutional opening and plaque presentation to the Municipality of Fisterra
• 8:00 p.m. – Talk: “Chasing the sun at the end of the Camino: the importance of Costa da Morte in the Camino de Santiago imagination”
• 8:15 p.m. – Conference: “The Sunset of Costa da Morte” by Jorge Mira (Professor at USC)
• 8:30 p.m. – Community sunset observation and celebration with live music
