2nd “Women, Memory and Dignity” Conference in O Ézaro

Dumbría Council is hosting the 2nd “Mulleres, memoria e dignidade” conference in O Ézaro, focused this year on women and work. Through a historical recreation, a book launch, a round table and a scientific talk, the programme pays tribute to Ruth Matilda Anderson and to the history of O Ézaro told through its women.

Friday 21 November – O Ézaro Beach

• 3:00 pm – Recreation of Ruth Matilda Anderson’s photograph: local residents in period clothing recreate the iconic image of people hauling the nets on the beach.

Saturday 22 November – Bitácora Building, O Ézaro

• 10:15 am – Institutional opening: official welcome and presentation of the conference by Dumbría Council.
• 10:30 am – Presentation of the book “Ruth Matilda Anderson, tradutora das marxes”: first official launch of Alba Rodríguez Saavedra’s book, with contributions by Santiago Garrido and Ana Cabana.
• 11:15 am – Round table “As mulleres do Ézaro e o traballo”: conversation with women from O Ézaro, moderated by Paula Castiñeira and María González, about the jobs that sustained the community.
• 1:00 pm – Talk “Mulleres de Dumbría na ciencia”: lecture by oncologist and researcher Isaura Fernández Pérez on the role of women from Dumbría in scientific research.
