On 31 October 2026, Muxía celebrates Samaín, Galicia’s autumn festival of mystery and tradition, with a day of family activities and spooky surprises. Sala Gervasio Sar will host children’s workshops, the Great Haunted Tunnel and a scary pumpkin competition. In the evening, the traditional Santa Compaña procession takes centre stage, followed by the Merendola de Defuntos community gathering.
New this year are pumpkin-cookie and trick-or-treat bag workshops, as well as a haunted tunnel for visitors ready for a scare.
Registration takes place at the Library from 26 to 30 October. Entrants must bring their pumpkins to Sala Gervasio Sar on 31 October between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm. The pumpkins will be displayed there throughout the afternoon.
Voting and prize-giving take place on the evening of 31 October after the Santa Compaña procession.
Saturday 31 October 2026, Sala Gervasio Sar, Edificio de Servizos Múltiples, Praza da Camposa, Muxía, A Coruña, on Galicia’s Costa da Morte. The evening procession leaves from the venue at 8:00 pm.
