Corcubión harbour becomes a meeting place for food, artisanal fishing and maritime culture during the Gastronomic Days organised by the Corcubión Fishermen’s Guild. From 21 to 23 August 2026, the harbour and fish market will host three days of tastings, live cooking demonstrations and educational activities focused on local seafood and the traditions of small-scale coastal fishing.
Octopus is one of the main attractions, alongside products closely associated with the local fish market such as longueirón and sardines. At the food marquee, visitors can taste octopus prepared Galician-style, grilled, in croquettes and in empanada, as well as grilled longueirón and corn empanada, one of this year’s new additions. Portions will be served at affordable popular prices.
The programme includes three free showcookings inside the fish market: Friday and Saturday at 7:00 pm and Sunday at 12:00 noon. Each session is limited to 30 participants and offers the chance to watch recipes prepared with products from the fishermen’s guild and taste them afterwards.
Advance registration is free and required by calling 981 746 951. To allow more people to take part, each person may register for one of the three showcookings.
Saturday also includes two marine science activities led by professionals from Arenaria Coordinación. At 12:00 noon, children aged 6 to 12 can join a cephalopod dissection workshop with microscope observation. At 7:30 pm, a marine biodiversity activity open to all ages will use animal specimens, shells and other educational materials to explore the species found in Galician estuaries.
Places are limited and advance registration is required on the same number: 981 746 951.
The event goes beyond food to explain the economic, cultural and environmental importance of local fishing. On Saturday at 12:30 pm, professionals linked to the fishermen’s guild will give a talk about octopus fishing, its journey through the fish market, its role in the guild’s history and some of the species’ biological features.
It is an excellent opportunity to enjoy the seafood gastronomy of the Costa da Morte in an authentic harbour setting while learning more about the products, skills and people behind Corcubión’s fishing tradition.
