Some nights are made for looking up, and few settings are as memorable as Touriñán Lighthouse in Muxía. On Tuesday, 18 August 2026 at 11:00 pm, this spectacular corner of the Costa da Morte will host an astronomy night with Jorge Mira, inviting visitors to discover stars, constellations and planets while exploring the myths and legends hidden in the night sky.
This experience brings together science, landscape and accessible astronomy in a remarkable setting for observing the sky. Guided by physicist and science communicator Jorge Mira Pérez, participants will learn to recognise some of the highlights of the summer sky and gain a better understanding of what we see after dark.
The date itself adds an extra touch of magic. Jorge Mira’s astronomical research identifies 18 August as one of the moments of the year when Cabo Touriñán occupies an exceptional position for witnessing one of mainland Europe’s latest sunsets. It is a wonderful way to begin the evening at the horizon before turning your eyes towards the stars.
A Muxía Cultural event for anyone who loves astronomy, nature and memorable experiences on the Costa da Morte. Bring something warm, look up and get ready to discover how many stories the night sky can tell beside the Atlantic.
