The Naufraxio de Laxe 2026 returns on Monday, 17 August, bringing locals and visitors together for one of Costa da Morte’s most moving and distinctive celebrations. Recognised as a Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia, the event pays tribute to the Virgen del Carmen, Laxe’s seafaring heritage and the generations whose lives have been closely tied to the ocean.
The harbour once again becomes the setting for a day filled with memory, emotion and tradition. The most eagerly awaited moment is the Naufraxio reenactment, a powerful representation rooted in Laxe’s maritime history that draws crowds to the waterfront every summer.
Music, religious ceremonies, the traditional Danza dos Arcos and the maritime procession complete a day in which Laxe proudly celebrates its enduring bond with the sea.
An unmissable opportunity to experience the seafaring traditions of Laxe up close, with boats, music, devotion and emotion on the waterfront in a celebration that keeps the memory and maritime character of this Costa da Morte town alive.
