The Concello de Zas will host a new event in its Mulleres e Territorio series on Saturday, April 25, with the presentation of the book As tolas que non o eran. Mulleres no Manicomio de Conxo (1885-1936) by Baio-born author Carmen V. Valiña. The event will take place at the Auditorio de Baio at 8:00 pm and admission will be free of charge, offering a cultural gathering focused on memory, identity and the role of women in history.
The presentation will feature Manuel Muíño, mayor of Zas; the author herself, Carmen V. Valiña; and Ana Facal, head of IES Maximino Romero de Lema. The book explores the lives of women who were confined in the Conxo psychiatric institution between 1885 and 1936, recovering forgotten voices and opening an important perspective on the social and women’s history of Galicia. It promises to be a meaningful event for readers interested in culture, critical reflection and powerful true stories.
This event fits perfectly within the spirit of Mulleres e Territorio, a programme through which the Concello de Zas seeks to highlight the role of women from a more inclusive and fair perspective. It is a great opportunity to visit Baio, enjoy a high-quality cultural event and discover an author with a strong background in both historical research and literary creation.
