On Saturday, July 25 at 6:30 PM, Camping LagoMar hosts the Panillada Tribute to Eva Castiñeira, an evening of talk, music, and tradition to mark the centenary of her birth. In a warm, seaside setting, we will honor Eva Castiñeira—champion of Galician folk culture—through personal testimonies and shared memories.
The program opens with a round-table discussion featuring her son, Juan José Alvite Castiñeira, researcher Xabier Díaz, illustrator Nerea Gómez, and other guests such as Viki Rivadulla, Rodrigo Romaní, and Manuel Vilar, director of the Museo do Pobo Galego. Their contributions will paint a vivid portrait of Eva’s life, her role in traditional music, and her enduring influence on new generations.
Next comes the open foliada, inviting everyone to join in with tambourines, drums, or song to the timeless Galician tunes. This free-flowing jam session will blend amateur and professional musicians in a collective celebration of community and heritage—the heart of the panillada.
To round off the evening, we’ll gather for a popular sardiñada, grilling sardines and serving classic regional dishes to cap the celebration. The Panillada Tribute to Eva Castiñeira is a unique chance to pay homage to a cornerstone of our folklore and to strengthen the cultural bonds that unite us.
