Find out more about O Brazal or Cabalgada Stone

It is a large granite mass located on the mountain of O Brazal, on the western edge of the road that leaves the place of O Logoso in a southerly direction, bordering the fort of the same name. It can be said that it is one of the few capricious monuments of nature that remains intact after millions of years withstanding a multitude of natural aggressions such as rain, wind, earthquakes, etc., and the occasional by man, maintaining a stable balance to this day.

With a support surface of 0.5 meters radius on its bottom base of hemispherical granite with a radius of 2 meters, it supports the weight of more than 150 tons. Its center of gravity coincides with the tangent point of both, the main axis of balance. On its upper surface it has three cylindrical pylons, undermined by erosion from rain and wind. One of them, 0.48 meters deep and 0.8 meters in diameter, maintains water almost all year round. You can also see, on the back of the mass, a small block of loose granite, which were actually two, one of them was thrown to the ground.

It is located very close to the Camino de Santiago to Fisterra-Muxía. In addition, the winner of the 12th stage of the Vuelta España 2012 at the viewpoint of O Ézaro, Joaquim Rodríguez “Purito”, was given a trophy that was a replica of this stone.
