The Mostra do Encaixe, which is held every Easter in Camariñas (A Coruña), is the most important lace-making event in the world, with more than 30 years of history. This meeting brings together artisans from all over Galicia, Spain and abroad, creating a space for cultural exchange and the sale of lace in a specially adapted fairgrounds. The palilleras exhibit their work in stands, attracting thousands of visitors during the five days of the Mostra.
In addition, the Mostra includes an avant-garde fashion show, where the prestigious New Designers Competition is held. Young talents present their creations made with the traditional Lace of Camariñas, with the hope of gaining recognition in this important showcase of Spanish fashion. Prominent names such as Sara Lage, José Matteos and Amaya González have emerged from this contest.
