The event involves a short film competition, screenings and concerts, including Atrás Tigre and Leo i Arremecaghona.
Many summers ago, sometime between 1994 and 1999, a group of friends from Baio got together to shoot scenes for what would become a short film. They were all lovers of cinema and one member of the group carried out all of the behind-the-camera duties, including writing the script and the original music, directing and even asked for a loan to buy the editing equipment (which consisted of two VHS players).
The film involved the participation of between 20 and 30 people. It is a little over an hour long and was premiered in the local pub. Twenty years after that first showing of Fouciño sanguento, the group of friends wished to commemorate the event by creating the “Premios Fouciño” in tribute to what is considered to be the first film created entirely on the Costa da Morte.
