On Sunday 23 August 2026 at 4:00 pm, Camping Lago-Mar, beside Lago Beach in Merexo (Muxía), hosts a traditional stool-making workshop with Sara Riveira. This hands-on session explores a craft technique built around manual skill, material reuse and traditional cord weaving.
Participants will learn how to weave stool seats using twisted cotton cord in different colours on recycled wooden frames. The workshop focuses on the making process itself: controlling tension, understanding the rhythm of the weave and creating a durable surface through a technique that combines simplicity with skilled craftsmanship.
Woven-seat furniture belongs to a long tradition of practical craftsmanship in which material efficiency and manual dexterity are central. This workshop offers a direct way to understand the technique, learn by doing and see how an everyday object can gain a distinctive handmade identity.
