A historia vaxenial comes to Vimianzo as part of FEM 2026, with Raquel Nogueira leading a comedy that travels through centuries of ideas, prejudice and silence surrounding women’s bodies. The piece blends humour, historical storytelling and personal performance to examine how religion, medicine, science and culture have represented —and often controlled— female anatomy.
The show grows out of Historias Vageniales, the series created by Raquel Nogueira, bringing its direct, ironic and informative voice to the stage. Comedy becomes a critical tool: a way to approach uncomfortable episodes from the past, dismantle myths and recover questions that were long excluded from official narratives.
Directed and co-written by Iván Marcos, with historical advice from Miguel García Fernández, the production moves between historical comedy, performative lecture and monologue. The project received the 2024 Luísa Villalta Award for equality-focused projects.
