The VI Premios Fouciño will turn Baio into a hands-on documentary lab on 1 and 2 September 2026. The Centro Sociocultural de Baio will host a film workshop for young people aged 11 to 16, built around an engaging idea: telling the story of the town through its local shops and the people behind them.
The aim is to create a short documentary about Baio’s local memory, using commerce as the thread that connects personal stories with the wider history of the town. Long-established shops and newer businesses will help the group explore social change, memories, everyday relationships and the way the community itself has evolved. It is a practical way to learn audiovisual storytelling while discovering a form of living local heritage.
The activity is organised over two days. On Tuesday 1 September, participants will focus mainly on recording interviews. On Wednesday 2 September, the group will work on script development and video editing. This structure gives participants direct experience of several key stages of documentary production and shows how a conversation, an image or a memory can be shaped into a clear and meaningful story.
The workshop will be led by Uxía and Illa from Cooperativa A Furna, a Laxe-based organisation specialising in cultural and audiovisual projects connected to the territory. The initiative is organised in collaboration with Concello de Zas and the BaiOn traders’ association, with support from Deputación da Coruña.
Places are limited. Registration is available through the official workshop form.
