16th Castrobuxán Country Picnic

The 16th Castrobuxán Country Picnic will take place on 14 and 15 August 2026 in Castrobuxán, in the parish of Calo, Vimianzo.

The programme combines religious celebrations, local food, live music, traditional dance and activities for children, with events on Friday evening and throughout Saturday.

Programme for the 16th Castrobuxán Country Picnic

• Friday, 14 August: at 9:00 pm, a procession will carry the Virgin from the church of San Xoán de Calo to the Castrobuxán chapel, where Mass will be celebrated. At 10:30 pm, free chorizo will be served to those attending, followed by an evening dance with Laura Ocampos.
• Saturday, 15 August: solemn Mass at 1:00 pm, followed by a procession. Lunch will include grilled meat, Spanish omelette, empanada, chorizo, drinks, coffee, cheese, sweet bread and ice cream. A large traditional queimada will be prepared later in the afternoon. The lunchtime music session will feature Dúo Gala, followed by performances from Dúo Gala, Dúo Maracaibo, Galician dance group Airiños do Río Grande and a bagpipe group. Inflatables will also be available for children.

Tickets cost €25 for adults and €10 for children aged up to 8. They are available in Vimianzo at Bar A Rúa, Celme Café, Parrillada Montevideo and Bar 35 until Friday, 7 August, or until capacity is reached.
