Carmen de Muxía 2025 returns to our village with five days of intense cultural programming that celebrate maritime tradition and energize local life. From July 23 to 27, Muxía Cultural, an initiative of the Concello de Muxía in collaboration with Horta Creativa, brings talks, exhibitions, concerts, traditional games, and the much-anticipated sea procession honoring the Virgin of Carmen.
The opening will take place on Wednesday, July 23 at 8:00 PM in the Lonxa, with the talk “Maritime Memories: Muxía of Yesteryear,” where fishermen and fisherwomen will share their life stories at sea. On Thursday the 24th, also at 8:00 PM in the Sala Gervasio Sar, the photo exhibition “Men and Women of Salt and Iron” opens—a visual journey through local fishing life by photographer Xesús Búa.
Saturday the 26th is the festival’s core: at 12:00 PM, mass and sea procession on the Malecón; at 1:30 PM, a vermouth session with Monoulious Dop; at 5:00 PM, the traditional Cucaña Game on the Rambleta; and as night falls, the screening “Muxía of Yesteryear” and a dance party with Boomers and DJ Mil.
To close, on Sunday the 27th at 12:00 PM in Praza Cabo da Vila, a vermouth session with The Limboos. With Carmen de Muxía, Muxía Cultural cements its role as a summer driver alongside Muxía Itinerante and the upcoming Rutas do Mar maritime fair.
