From July 15 to 19, the town of Camariñas will host one of the most beloved celebrations on the Costa da Morte: the Festas do Carme 2025. For five days, music, culture and local devotion come together to honor the Virgin of Carmen, the patron saint of sailors.
The highlight takes place on July 16 with the traditional land and sea procession. The Virgin is carried from San Xurxo Church, accompanied by the beautiful and symbolic Danza de Arcos, unique to Camariñas. Then begins the impressive maritime procession, crossing the Camariñas estuary to Muxía and back via Merexo—a breathtaking experience.
The event also features performances from top orchestras such as Panorama, Grupo Bomba, Miramar and Alkazar. The Festas do Carme de Camariñas offer an authentic and vibrant way to experience Galicia’s maritime spirit.
