The Costa da Morte Tourism Association (CMAT) resumed in-person meetings this week in municipalities that are not part of its Board of Directors, aiming to bring the association’s management closer to local mayors who have not recently served on this governing body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Board of Directors continued working throughout July and August on various initiatives. Among them, the implementation plan for new usage counters across different municipalities was established, which will be rolled out progressively across all 17 local council areas, starting with four locations during the current year. Progress was also made on public awareness and communication regarding the August 12 eclipse, the association’s upcoming audiovisual campaign, a feasibility study on introducing a tourist tax, and the distribution of promotional materials to local councils for the summer season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This past Wednesday, September 2, the CMAT delegation continued its roadmap to expand its management outreach across the entire territory by traveling to the Municipality of Fisterra, where they were received by Mayor Luis \u00cdnsua. During the meeting, various topics concerning the association’s activities and projects were discussed, including the status of secured GALP projects, next steps for analyzing motorhome tourism in the area, and highlighting key regional assets such as megalithic heritage and the promotion of the Coastal Way (Cami\u00f1o do Litoral) promoted by the Regional Government of Galicia as it passes through Costa da Morte.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The meeting also served to initiate the necessary administrative steps to organize the 6th Annual Costa da Morte Tourism Conference\u2014one of the association’s major events\u2014set to take place next November, bringing together local tourism operators and regional entities each year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
By resuming in-person meetings, CMAT aims to strengthen direct communication with local councils, gain first-hand understanding of their needs, and facilitate greater coordination among the different municipalities forming the Costa da Morte geodestination.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The association now enters the final stretch of the year, during which it will continue progressing on ongoing projects while focusing on finalizing planned initiatives for 2026 and preparing for the upcoming Annual Tourism Conference.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
