{"id":74668,"date":"2025-11-19T13:14:18","date_gmt":"2025-11-19T12:14:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/visitacostadamorte.com\/?p=74668"},"modified":"2025-11-20T17:55:47","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T16:55:47","slug":"atlantic-sunset-interpretive-panel-viana-do-castelo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/visitacostadamorte.com\/en\/news\/atlantic-sunset-interpretive-panel-viana-do-castelo","title":{"rendered":"CMAT takes part in Viana do Castelo in the inauguration of a new interpretive panel of the Atlantic Sunset project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>CMAT was represented by its <strong>president and mayor of A Laracha, Jos\u00e9 Manuel L\u00f3pez Varela<\/strong>, by <strong>Sandra Vilela Riveiro<\/strong> \u2014the association\u2019s treasurer and <strong>deputy mayor of Mux\u00eda<\/strong>\u2014 and by the <strong>mayor of Fisterra, Luis M. \u00cdnsua Lago<\/strong>, who joined the Portuguese authorities and project partners at a symbolic gathering held next to the <strong>Montedor Lighthouse<\/strong> in Carre\u00e7o (Viana do Castelo).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event is a <strong>natural continuation<\/strong> of the one held on 19 September in Costa da Morte, during the Interreg Cooperation Day, when the first interpretive panels were inaugurated at <strong>Cape Touri\u00f1\u00e1n, Monte Pindo and Cape Fisterra<\/strong>. In addition, as part of the project, an additional <strong>interpretive panel in Mux\u00eda<\/strong> is planned, further reinforcing the key spots from which the last sunset of continental Europe can be seen throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For CMAT, being an associated entity of the Atlantic Sunset project represents a \u201c<strong>strategic opportunity to strengthen cooperation with northern Portugal and reinforce the shared Atlantic identity<\/strong>\u201d, as its president underlined in his speech. He also stressed that this project makes it possible to move forward in creating sustainable tourism products based on natural, cultural and scientific heritage, in collaboration with universities and research centres on both sides of the border.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Atlantic Sunset project, of which the <strong>University of Santiago de Compostela<\/strong> is also a partner, is coordinated by the <strong>Euroregional Studies Centre Foundation (FCEER)<\/strong> and is supported by the <strong>Interreg Atlantic Area Programme<\/strong>.
