History, devotion and stone craftsmanship meet in its interior and on its fa\u00e7ade\u2014a perfect stop for travellers who love heritage and rural hidden gems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Its story begins in <strong>Grixoa<\/strong>, where the original parish church once stood. In the early 17th century, <strong>Alonso de Lema II<\/strong> and his wife <strong>Maior Franqueira<\/strong> moved the church to its current site and financed the <strong>main chapel in 1617<\/strong>. That act was carved into stone: the <strong>central keystone bears Alonso de Lema II\u2019s anagram<\/strong>, also echoed by an inscription on the outer wall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The layout follows a <strong>hall-type single nave<\/strong> that opens to a <strong>square main chapel<\/strong> through a <strong>campanel arch (arco campanel) over pillars<\/strong>. The chapel displays a <strong>ribbed, star-shaped vault with five keystones<\/strong>, a fine piece of stonemasonry that places the building firmly within the <strong>Early Modern period (16th\u201318th centuries)<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>fa\u00e7ade<\/strong>, built in the <strong>mid-19th century<\/strong>, steals the scene with a <strong>central two-stage bell tower<\/strong>, slender and <strong>Baroque in character<\/strong>, crowned by an <strong>octagonal drum and lantern<\/strong>.
