Carved entirely from <strong>granite<\/strong>, it keeps a sober presence that resonates with the landscape and the memories of those who pause to pray or observe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It rises from a <strong>square platform<\/strong> and a <strong>cubic pedestal<\/strong> with now <strong>illegible inscriptions<\/strong>. An <strong>octagonal shaft<\/strong> starts from the base and, one third up, features an <strong>image of Saint Peter<\/strong>, a gentle nod to the parish patron that brings the monument closer to human scale and to the visitor\u2019s gaze.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>cylindrical capital<\/strong> shows a <strong>plain circular astragal<\/strong>, an <strong>abacus<\/strong> with curved sides and <strong>chamfered corners<\/strong>, <strong>volutes<\/strong>, and <strong>winged angel heads<\/strong>\u2014a Baroque vocabulary that appears to have been <strong>repaired with iron elements<\/strong> over time. Above sits the <strong>square cross<\/strong>, with <strong>chamfered arms<\/strong> and <strong>floriated finials<\/strong> around a <strong>central boss<\/strong>, a solution typical in Galician tradition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the <strong>front<\/strong>, <strong>Christ on the Cross with three nails<\/strong> inclines his head slightly <strong>to the right<\/strong>, crowned with thorns beneath the <strong>INRI<\/strong> cartouche. <strong>Open hands<\/strong> and a <strong>loincloth knotted on the left<\/strong> complete the scene. On the <strong>back<\/strong>, a <strong>Piet\u00e0<\/strong> rests upon the <strong>pedestal of a winged angel<\/strong>.
