{"id":63537,"date":"2024-05-23T11:06:54","date_gmt":"2024-05-23T09:06:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/great-goldberg.213-199-36-195.plesk.page\/post\/church-santiago-de-mens"},"modified":"2024-09-17T19:56:16","modified_gmt":"2024-09-17T17:56:16","slug":"church-santiago-de-mens","status":"publish","type":"contenido","link":"https:\/\/visitacostadamorte.com\/en\/post\/church-santiago-de-mens","title":{"rendered":"Santiago de Mens Church"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The church of Santiago de Mens is a Romanesque church built in the twelfth century in Mens, a parish in the municipality of Malpica de Berganti\u00f1os, located in the region of Berganti\u00f1os in the province of La Coru\u00f1a.<\/p>\n\n<p>Its construction dates back to the twelfth century and was carried out in three stages.\nFrom the first pre-Romanesque stage, the three naves are still preserved, which are divided by pillars that support semicircular arches.\nThe apses were built in a second Romanesque phase and the main fa\u00e7ade was remodelled in the third phase.  <\/p>\n\n<p>It is a basilica building made up of three naves divided into four sections in their original form, today reduced to three by a nineteenth-century reform.\nThe naves end in three semicircular (lateral) and pentagonal (central) apses.\nOn the outside they have semi-columns attached to four corners of the polygon.\nThe apses are covered by semicircular barrel vaults topped with a quarter sphere.\nThe arches are supported by rectangular pilasters, which support a gabled roof.\nThe capitals and corbels are decorated with balls, vegetable, animal and human figures.     <\/p>\n\n<p>The fa\u00e7ade is in the Baroque style, with a central body protruding on the sides, with a linteled door, topped with a bell tower of slender proportions, ending in a galloned lantern, supported by Ionic pilasters.\nThe sides are finished in pinnacles. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The church of Santiago de Mens is a Romanesque church built in the twelfth century in Mens, a parish in the municipality of Malpica de Berganti\u00f1os, located in the region of Berganti\u00f1os in the province of La Coru\u00f1a.
