{"id":63463,"date":"2024-05-23T11:06:31","date_gmt":"2024-05-23T09:06:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/great-goldberg.213-199-36-195.plesk.page\/post\/faro-islands-lobeira"},"modified":"2024-09-17T19:53:20","modified_gmt":"2024-09-17T17:53:20","slug":"faro-islands-lobeira","status":"publish","type":"contenido","link":"https:\/\/visitacostadamorte.com\/en\/post\/faro-islands-lobeira","title":{"rendered":"Lobeira Islands Lighthouse"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Lobeira Islands are two small archipelagos that are called Lobeira Grande and Lobeira Chica or Small.\nThey are located in the middle of the Corcubi\u00f3n estuary, in front of the coast of Carnota. <\/p>\n\n<p>The origin of the name of these islands is not very clear.\nOn the one hand, it is believed that in earlier times they were inhabited by sea lions.\nWhile sailors otherwise considered these islands a danger to navigation, they waited hidden like a wolf for a ship to crash into them.  <\/p>\n\n<p>These islands were the scene of countless shipwrecks, including that of two Greek merchant ships, the Polymia in 1904 and years earlier, in the same place, the Skuld in 1901.\nThe so-called Lobeira Grande, in which the automated lighthouse is preserved, was inhabited by lighthouse keepers.\nThe first lighthouse dates back to 1906, being a 4th order lighthouse.\nThe building included the lighthouse keeper&#8217;s home, a food and merchandise warehouse, and an office for the lighthouse engineer.   <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Lobeira Islands are two small archipelagos that are called Lobeira Grande and Lobeira Chica or Small.
