A meeting of great importance for the Costa da Morte

The 7th International Starlight Meeting will bring together professionals, companies, public and private entities, media, Starlight monitors and guides, focusing on the cross-cutting themes of the Starlight Foundation: astrotourism, local sustainable development, natural and cultural heritage linked to starlight, protection of the sky and dissemination of astronomy.

The 2nd International Conference on Astrotourism will attract experts from different parts of the world to offer a broad and diverse vision of the trends and developments in the field of astrotourism at an international level. It will also be a good moment to bring together astrotourism professionals and enthusiasts from different countries, creating great opportunities for future projects and collaborations.

Manuel Muíño, president of the CMAT, assures that the fact of hosting this meeting is "indicative of the enormous involvement and commitment of the town councils of the Costa da Morte with our geotourism geodestination".

According to the director of the Starlight Foundation, Antonia Varela, "the Costa da Morte is one of the newest Tourist Destinations in the Starlight Network, but it has been on an upward path with a solid astro-tourism strategy, to which we can add the great commitment of the public administrations and companies responsible for the territory, which are in line with the principles of the Starlight Network".

The Starlight Foundation stresses that holding this meeting on the Costa da Morte is also strategic for Galicia as a whole, which already has seven Starlight Tourist Destinations, being the third autonomous community with more certifications of this type, after Castilla La Mancha and the Canary Islands, tied with Castilla y León and closely followed by Andalusia, Catalonia and Aragón.

Therefore, the holding of this congress on the Costa da Morte is historic and a unique opportunity for international positioning as a tourist destination, setting a precedent for future events and generating economic opportunities in the short and medium term.

An event established at national and international level

In its previous editions, this event was held in places as diverse as Gredos (Castilla y León), Menorca (Balearic Islands), Mosteiro del Olivar (Aragón), Évora (Portugal) and Fuencaliente de la Palma (Canary Islands). The last 2023 meeting,   , took place in Cuenca, attracted more than 200 participants and, year after year, proves to be an event of great economic and social impact on the territory.
