Turismo de Galicia organised the awards ceremony at the Parador Costa da Morte in Muxía. The event was attended by representatives of the Costa da Morte Tourism Association (CMAT) and the Costa da Morte Tourism Professionals Association (APTCM).

MUXÍA, 31/05/2024. This Friday the Parador Costa da Morte in Muxía hosted the presentation of the "Q" for Tourism Quality and "S" for Tourism Sustainability awards from the Institute for Spanish Tourism Quality and Sustainability (ICTES), which recognise the quality and sustainability of tourist establishments. This event, organised by Turismo de Galicia, was attended by representatives of the tourism associations of the Costa da Morte, CMAT and APTCM.

The Costa da Morte, a protagonist for tourism in Galicia

Turismo de Galicia chose as the place for the presentation of these awards an impressive spot of our coast: the Parador of Muxía, directed by Julio Castro Marcote, who ensured that the event was excellent in every way.

This event, full of references to the quality of the Costa da Morte as a tourist geodestination, was attended by regional authorities such as Alfonso Rueda, president of the Xunta de Galicia; Xosé Manuel Merelles, director of Tourism of Galicia and Belén do Campo, territorial delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in A Coruña. Also present were the president of ICTES, Manuel Mirones and the vice-president of the Galician Tourism Cluster, Jesús Picallo.

The event was opened by the mayor of Muxía, Iago Toba, who also referred to the importance of the Costa da Morte as a tourist destination and the quality of tourism professionals in this area. It was a day where CMAT was present through many of its representatives: Manuel Muíño, president of CMAT; Pepe Formoso, secretary of CMAT and president of APTCM; Damián Álvarez, member of CMAT and secretary of APTCM and Áurea Domínguez, member of CMAT. The mayors of Dumbría, Raúl González and Corcubión, Xabier Domínguez, as well as Marta Rodríguez, SICTED manager of the Costa da Morte destination and staff from the CMAT Technical Secretariat were also present at this important event.

A demonstration of the strength of the Costa da Morte as a tourist destination

This event is a new demonstration of the good health of the tourism sector of the Costa da Morte which, in addition to hosting this important event, has several Q for Tourism Quality distinctions. This year the Hotel Temático do Banco Azul de Fisterra and the Faro de Lariño received the "Q". As for the "S" of sustainability, it was the Hotel Bela Fisterra which achieved this recognition. A sign that by working together, the Costa da Morte geodestination has great opportunities in the present and in the future. Translated with www.DeepL.com/Translator (free version)
