Laxe Cultural and Sports Summer Programme

The City Council of Laxe promotes a full programme of activities for all ages for this summer season.
On the one hand, on July 1st began the first turn of the Peque Campamentos, which will run until the 12th. The second is programmed for the period between the 15th and 29th of July and the third from the 31st of July to the 13th of August. The kids will be able to enjoy different activities from Monday to Friday, such as handicrafts, games, trips to the beach and to the swimming pool, etc.
The sports camps also started on the 1st of July, where the offer is based on this type of activities: football, paddle tennis, paddle surf, etc.
In August, on the 1st and 2nd, the Rías Altas Regatta will take place, organised by the Real Club Náutico de A Coruña and from the 9th to the 10th the Galician Surfing Championship will be held on Soesto beach, organised by the Galician Surfing Federation.
Cultural activities and shows
As for cultural activities, they will begin this Thursday, 4th July, with two forums organised by Percega. The first one, at 11:00 a.m., is entitled Forum of Restorers and Tourist Operators of the GALP Costa da Morte and the second one, at 12:00 p.m., is entitled I+D+i Atlántica. Both will take place at the Museum of the Sea in Laxe.
The programme includes different family film sessions throughout the month. The first stop will be Traba, on the 13th, with the screening of the film Magias. The following Saturday, the 20th, it will be Soesto s turn. On this occasion the screening will be Gisaku. Finally, on Saturday the 27th, El cid, la leyenda will be screened in Sarces. All of them will be at 22:30.
On Fridays it will be the turn of the shows. On the 19th, Fran Bouza will be in charge of filling the Ramón Juega square with juggling and magic. The following Friday, 26th July, the main protagonists will be the puppets of the Centro Dramático Galego, who come to Laxe with their show De vilatriste a vilalegre.
July will end with the celebration of the IV Festival de Música Laxense in the Plaza de los Voluntarios, at 19:00 hours.
The XI edition of the Comprado Pirata will be in charge of welcoming the month of August. From the 2nd to the 4th of this month, the Plaza de Ramón Juega will be filled with different craft and food stalls and music and entertainment based on this theme.
Continuing with the shows, on Friday, August 9th, puppets will invade the Ramón Juega square thanks to Títeres Alakrán, who will perform their show A gallina jefa.
This month there will be three new opportunities to enjoy a family film session. The first will be on Saturday, the 10th, in Nande. The film Demos de Barro will be screened. The next stop will be Laxe the following day, Sunday 11th, with the screening of Donkey Xote, in the Plaza de los Voluntarios. Finally, on Sunday 18th, El bosque animado will be screened in Serantes. All of them will be at 22:30.
Continuing with music, on Thursday 15th, from 11:00 a.m. onwards, the pasarrúas will begin with the Abegondo music band. On Saturday 17th, the pasarrúas will be performed by the Ponteceso music band and the Maruxía bagpipe band.
On Saturday 24th, the 18th Poetic Evening and award ceremony of the Antón Zapata García poetry competition will be held. It will take place on the Playa de los Cristales beach at 20:00.
In September, the first big event will be the 1st Maruxía Festival, organised by the bagpipe group of the same name. It will take place in the Plaza de los Voluntarios at 18:00.
Two workshops will also be held this month in the Antón Zapata municipal library. The first, aimed at the general public, will be on Saturday, 14th September, at 18:00. It will deal with marine litter. The second will be on the 21st at the same time and, on this occasion, will be a workshop on Women s awareness, aimed at an audience of 4 to 12 year olds. Both require prior registration.
